Did you know you can use your RRSP+ to help you go back to school? Once you’ve chosen the type of training you want to take, check out the list of accredited or certified educational institutions that allow you to withdraw funds from your RRSP+.
How much can you withdraw?
With the RRSP+, you can withdraw up to $10,000 for three to six months of full-time studies, and up to a maximum of $20,000 for full-time studies that last six months or longer.
Note that in order to be eligible to withdraw funds from your RRSP, while respecting the authorized withdrawal amounts limits, you must have held shares with the Fonds for more than two years.
The Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) allows you to withdraw funds from your RRSP to finance full-time training or education for you or your spouse or common-law partner., without having to pay tax.
As with the HBP, the LLP functions like a no-interest loan you make to yourself. You must pay back the amount over a period of ten years at a minimum of 10% of the amount withdrawn per year.
The RRSP+ helps you get more studying done.
