Talent attraction and retention

"
I joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ because it embodies my values of respect, integrity and environmental protection. Since I joined over two years ago, I've experienced a culture of collaboration and support, where every employee is encouraged to express their ideas and put their skills to the test every day."
— Pier-Luc, Senior IT Security Consultant at Fonds de solidarité FTQ
Why it's important to us

Planchers PG: Innovating to enhance the employee experience
Saint-Édouard-de-Lotbinière
"
We knew we needed an integrated human resources system, but we knew very little about it. Fortunately, we could count on input from the Fonds."
— Anne-Marie Faucher
President and CEO
Planchers PG
An expanding team

Anne-Marie Faucher, her brother and four cousins are all third-generation shareholders in Planchers PG. Since 2016, Anne-Marie has been President and CEO of the family business named after its two co-founders: cousins Julien Paré and Richard Gatineau. In its 45 years of business, the company has established itself as a leader in the hardwood flooring industry. Today, it employs 160 people. And with a large team comes human resources challenges.
"
Like everyone else, we've had to deal with labour shortages in the last few years. We've found people by recruiting elsewhere, including abroad, " Anne-Marie explained.
And while the economic downturn in the construction industry may have postponed these challenges, Anne-Marie is well aware that her company will face recruitment challenges when business picks up again. That's one reason she turned to the Fonds to help prepare for these challenges.
Towards a digital transition in human resources

The Fonds, which has been a partner of the company since 2012, helped it select a human resources information system (HRIS). Laurry Cayer, Human Resources Advisor at Planchers PG, was involved at every stage.
"
Human resources worked with all sorts of tools that didn't talk to each other. We started centralizing them, but a lot of information and time was still being lost," Laurry said.
In 2023, Planchers PG realized that it needed a human resources information system (HRIS) to improve efficiency and standardize the employee experience.
"The Fonds helped us identify our internal problems and better define our needs. They even offered to go meet various suppliers with us to help us dig a little deeper into the solutions we were presented," Laurry added.
Thanks to the Fonds, Planchers PG found the right solution to enhance their employee experience.
"With the Fonds' support, we never lost sight of our vision and priorities", Anne-Marie added.

A solution focused on well-being
A new HRIS means human resources can spend less time managing documents and tools and more time being there for the company’s current and potential staff. And the more in touch HR is with their people, the healthier the company's culture.

A new HRIS means human resources can spend less time managing documents and tools and more time being there for the company's current and potential staff. And the more in touch HR is with their people, the healthier the company's culture.
"It may sound trivial, but it’s the kind of thing that can make all the difference. The more your staff feels like human resources is listening to them, the more they want to keep working for you", explained Anne-Marie, who feels fully prepared to tackle the next labour shortage and become the best employer in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
To achieve that, she plans to continue investing in her people and taking care of them. And for her, the new HRIS perfectly aligns with this vision.
