Is it possible to contribute more than $5,000 a year to the Fonds?
However, keep in mind that the 30 percent1 in tax credits available through the Fonds applies only to the first $5,000 of your annual contribution.
If your contribution room allows and you wish to contribute more than $5,000 to your RRSP for the current year, you could invest the first $5,000 in your RRSP+ with the Fonds to benefit from the 30 percent in tax savings,1 and then invest the rest in an RRSP with FlexiFonds2.
You should also know that the Fonds is limiting contributions until the end of the current fiscal year to maintain a balanced business model.
This measure does not affect FTQ savers who make contributions by payroll deduction, who already contribute via automatic bank withdrawal, or who would like to purchase FlexiFonds mutual fund units. Given that share issuance is limited, lump-sum contributions, new contribution subscriptions by automatic bank withdrawals, and increases to contribution amounts are not permitted.
To stop all contributions by payroll deduction or automatic bank withdrawal, savers have two options:
- Stop their withdrawals via their online account
- Contact Saving Services
Where can I find my RRSP contribution room?
You will find this information in your Notice of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency.
