Montréal, March 19, 2025
To mark the nomination of PME MTL Centre-Ouest as a finalist for the 2024 Performance Award, the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ, L.P., has donated $2,000 to a local non-profit.
In November 2024, the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ highlighted the excellent performance of the three finalist "fonds local de solidarité" managers from the network of 98 non-profit organizations, including PME MTL Centre-Ouest, which set itself apart for the efficient use and exemplary management of its LSF.
"PME MTL Centre-Ouest has stood out for its effective management and optimal use of its fonds local de solidarité. We would like to acknowledge the remarkable work of its team, which has made this development tool highly relevant to the territory. To show our appreciation, we would like to make a financial contribution to a local non-profit. We have chosen to support VertCité. This is our way of giving each individual the power to change the future and of investing for a better society," said Éric Desaulniers, general manager of the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ.
Selected by PME MTL Centre-Ouest for its commitment to sustainable development, VertCité manages projects and offers services in sustainable development while acting as a resource for the population on this subject. VertCité runs the Éco-quartier program in the boroughs of Saint-Laurent and Pierrefonds-Roxboro. It develops and manages a variety of educational projects about the environment, greening, waste management, urban agriculture, food security, urban biodiversity and active transportation.
VertCité also organizes events such as the Érablière urbaine, Cultivons Saint-Laurent, Biodiversity Day and the Saint-Laurent Harvest Fest.
About the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ, L.P.
The Fonds de solidarité FTQ and the Fédération québécoise des municipalités created the network of local solidarity funds (FLS) in 1991. This network has been built up over the years by local councillors and local partners. The FLS network supports the local economy by helping SMEs grow and by creating, maintaining and preserving sustainable quality jobs. There are 98 FLS in Québec.
FLS financing is available to businesses either from the regional county municipality (RCM) or any non-profit organization appointed by the latter, through multi-skilled specialists dedicated to fostering local economic growth.
Creating a local solidarity fund provides the regions with an additional economic development tool. Through the FLS network, Québec SMEs have access to more than $115 million: $29 million invested by the RCMs and their local partners, and $86 million from the Fonds de solidarité FTQ to support the local economy.
