Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Bas-Saint-Laurent Invests $5 Million in Transport RDL
Rivière-du-Loup, Novembre 9, 2023
The Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Bas-Saint-Laurent (FRS) are investing $5 million to support the expansion of Transport RDL, the largest temperature-controlled transport company in Eastern Québec.
Specializing in the field of food transportation by trucks since 1989, Transport RDL provides a complete set of services, along with flexible solutions in dedicated transportation, multi-delivery and temperature-controlled transport. It plays a key role in the Canadian agri-food sector, serving many of the country's food giants. As a result, this investment therefore contributes to food self-sufficiency in Eastern Canada.
Located in Saint-Antonin, Transport RDL also provides parcel delivery service following the acquisition of the company Livre-tout in 2018. This transaction now enables Transport RDL to offer a diversified and integrated service. Whether it involves parcel, pallet or full-load of shipments, the merchandise is always delivered with a meticulously structured logistics framework and distribution process, from customer to its destination.
The company has been growing rapidly since its acquisition by Samuel Joncas in 2011 and has several major projects in the pipeline. These will now be able to move forward thanks to the FRS investment.
"We are very pleased to add Transport RDL to the FRS portfolio. The FRS have long been a key player in promoting the long-term viability of regional SMEs in Québec. This partnership with a flourishing company that supports the agri-food supply chain and that provides employment for over 325 people is in keeping with this role. Our team will be able to support Transport RDL in its expansion projects while offering the flexibility it needs to develop them," said David Lord, Regional Vice-President of the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Bas-Saint-Laurent.
"This investment from a credible and solid partner like the FRS Bas-Saint-Laurent is an important step in our growth plan. It provides us with major financial and strategic support that will allow us to strengthen our position in the transport industry. We are committed to carrying out and accelerating our expansion plans," said Samuel Joncas, President and CEO of Transport RDL.
From employee to owner: Samuel Joncas' inspiring story
Transport RDL has enjoyed steady growth since it was acquired in 2011 by Samuel Joncas, who started out as its in-house mechanic in 2002. Since taking over, the young leader has promoted teamwork and a corporate culture based on family values to provide a cordial and respectful work environment for all.
"Passing the mantle to the next generation is a big challenge for regional SMEs that can have many financial, taxation, legal and especially human implications. The Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ is always proud to support young entrepreneurs like Samuel Joncas, who embody the economic future of our regions," said Luc Pinard, President and CEO of the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ.
