How do I upload a void cheque when I open my first FlexiFonds account?

Save an image of your void cheque to your device (mobile, tablet, or computer). Make sure the cheque is in your name. At the Bank Details step, simply upload the image when prompted.

When you open your FlexiFonds account, you'll be asked to provide a void cheque so we can confirm your banking information.1 This step allows us to verify that the bank account associated with the application is yours. Below are step-by-step instructions:

Step 1: Prepare a void cheque

You have two options:

  • Download a void cheque from your online banking account and save it to the device you plan to use to open your FlexiFonds account (mobile, tablet, or computer). Contact your financial institution if necessary.
Tip: Save the image as a PDF file for best results. In this format, the cheque information is easier to read.
  • If you have a chequebook, take a picture of one of your cheques and save it to your device (mobile, tablet, or computer). The entire cheque should be visible in the photo frame, and the information should be clearly legible.
Tip: If you take the photo using your cellphone but want to open your account from your computer, email the photo to yourself. Save it to your computer and upload it when you reach step 3.

Make sure your image file meets the criteria

Accepted formats: .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .pdf
Maximum size: 8 MB

Please note that only personal cheques are accepted (i.e., your name must be printed on it). Cheques with handwritten names and business cheques are not accepted.

Step 2: Open a FlexiFonds account

Follow the steps until your reach the Bank Details section.

Step 3: Click on "Select a file"

Once you reach step 3 of 4 in the Bank Details section (the "Upload your void cheque" page), click on "Browse files."

Step 4: Upload your void cheque

Select the image file you saved to your device earlier. Our system will read your bank details without you having to enter them manually. If everything is in order, you can move on to the next step.

  • If the void cheque is not in your name or is not recognized by our system, a red error message will appear asking you to try again. Ensure that the image file provided meets the criteria listed in step 1.

Step 5: If our system still can't read your image file after two attempts, enter your bank information manually.

Select your banking institution from the drop-down menu. Enter your branch number and account number in the corresponding boxes according to the format indicated on screen.
