Is there a contribution limit at the Fonds?

Yes. The Fonds de solidarité FTQ has set a $12,500 annual cap on contributions per shareholder per calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

Effective January 1, 2018, the Fonds has capped total annual contributions per individual at $12,500 so that the greatest number of shareholders can contribute to the Fonds.

Please note that the tax credits granted to Fonds de solidarité shareholders are 15% at the federal level and 15% at the provincial level. Tax credits are capped at $1,500 per tax year, which corresponds to purchases of Fonds de solidarité FTQ shares having a value of $5,000.

The Fonds has also chosen to cap overall contributions for the financial year ending May 31, 2018, to ensure its business model remains balanced. Note, however, that this cap doesn’t apply to investors who contribute by payroll deduction or automatic bank transfer.
