    • Alain Denis

      Senior Vice-President - Innovation

      Alain Denis has been Senior Vice-President, Innovation since October 2011 and is responsible for the Fonds de solidarité FTQ’s investments in IT/Telecommunications, Life Sciences, Environment and Controlling Interests. Alain Denis joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2009 as Investment Director of the Information Technologies and Telecommunications sector. An entrepreneur and manager with over 20 years of experience in business and investment, Mr. Denis has held various management positions in leading companies, playing a significant role in their development. 

      Over his career, Alain Denis was, among other things, involved in the launch of a national wireless telecom firm and helped secure financing for and further the development of various companies funded through venture capital in Europe and Asia. More recently, he participated in developing the business of two companies he co-founded, one in health technologies and the other in asset-based lending. 

      A graduate of Université Laval and York University, Mr. Denis holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Finance concentration. Very involved in the business community, he is a board member of several companies and organizations in Montréal.

    • Thomas Martinuzzo

      Senior Investment Advisor – Innovation

      Thomas Martinuzzo joined the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ in September 2016 as Senior Investment Advisor – Innovation. Thomas has worked in the field of innovation since 2006. He held several positions at Gestion Univalor, s.e.c, where he notably led the team of professionals who commercialize physical sciences and engineering inventions from Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal and affiliated hospital research centres. Mr. Martinuzzo also founded eValorix.com, a web platform that commercializes digital tools arising out of public research. He also served on the board of directors of several start-up companies (Bâton Simulations inc. and Ortho Regenerative Technologies inc.) and is currently a director of Castor Optics Inc.
    • Charles Syslvestre

      Charles Sylvestre has worked in the business transfer and venture capital fields for over a decade. In 2009 he co-founded Adix Conseil, a firm specializing in buying and selling businesses in the Montréal region and the Eastern Townships. Before that, Mr. Sylvestre spent four years as a manager and legal counsel at Novacap, where he was directly involved in buying, selling and taking equity stakes in IT and other firms. While at Novacap, he was also responsible for the due diligence and closing of several private equity deals that often entailed bank financing. Between 1997 and 2003, Charles Sylvestre was, in turn, an analyst at Argo Global Capital (GSM Capital) and Microcell Telecom (Fido). Mr. Sylvestre began his career as a lawyer with a Montréal legal firm in 1994, the year he became a member of the Barreau du Québec. He holds a Bachelor in Social Science (economics) from Université d'Ottawa, a law degree from Université de Montréal and a Diploma in Management (Treasury - Finance) from McGill University. He has been a member on the Board of directors of Bluestreak Technology, Inc. since June 2013.
