      Ms. Janie C. Béïque was appointed Executive Vice-President, Investments in July 2018. In this role, she also sits on the Fonds’ Management Committee.

      Ms. Béïque joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2000 as Vice-President, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary. In 2008, she moved to the Investment sector, where she served, in turn, as Senior Vice-President, New Economy, and Senior Vice-President, Natural Resources, Industries, Entertainment and Consumer Goods. In 2017, she was named Chief of Investments and Strategic Investment Initiatives. In this position, she was responsible for overseeing the Fond’s investment portfolio as well as defining and implementing the organization’s strategic investment direction. Prior to her arrival at the Fonds, Ms. Béïque was a partner at the law firm McCarthy Tétrault.

      Holder of a law degree from Université de Montréal, Ms. Béïque has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1991. In 2005 she was named one of Canada’s top 40 corporate lawyers under 40 by L’expert magazine and in 2014 won a ZSA award in the Accomplishment and business strategy category. She has been a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors since 2012 and in 2015 earned an MBA from Georgetown University in the U.S. and ESADE University in Spain.  In 2016, she was named an “Innovation Leader” by the Government of Canada and asked to moderate roundtables in Québec and the Maritimes with a view to helping the government develop its innovation strategy.

      Michel Coulombe joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 1990 to set up a business valuation team. Before assuming his current position, he was Director, Financial Analysis, and then Assistant to the executive vice-president (Investments). Mr. Coulombe serves on the board of a leading financing corporation.

      Michel Coulombe has over 30 years of professional experience. Prior to joining the Fonds, he honed his skills as an auditor and a valuation expert for over a decade at some of Montréal’s top accounting firms, executing over 100 mandates.

      Holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in accounting from Université Laval, Mr. Coulombe is a Chartered Accountant. He has also completed courses on business valuation at the University of Toronto. Lastly, he was a lecturer within the Université de Québec network for over five years.

      Alain Denis joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2009 as Investment Director of the Information Technologies and Telecommunications sector. An entrepreneur and manager with over 20 years of experience in business and investment, Mr. Denis has held various management positions in leading companies, playing a significant role in their development.

      Over his career, Alain Denis was, among other things, involved in the launch of a national wireless telecom firm and helped secure financing for and further the development of various companies funded through venture capital in Europe and Asia. More recently, he participated in developing the business of two companies he co-founded, one in health technologies and the other in asset-based lending.

      A graduate of Université Laval and York University, Mr. Denis holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Finance concentration. Very involved in the business community, he is a board member of several companies and organizations in Montréal.

      Liette Leduc joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2000. Prior to her appointment as Senior Director, Legal Affairs, she was Legal Advisor. In her current role, Me Leduc oversees all the legal activities related to the Fonds’ investment transactions and supports the legal advisors with the development and verification of investment structures. She has been a member of the Investment Management Committee since 2008 and the Due Diligence Committee since 2003.

      Prior to her arrival the Fonds, Me Leduc spent over 10 years with various prominent law firms, building expertise in business law, mergers & acquisitions, private business financing and bank financing.

      Holder of a Bachelor of Civil Law (LL.L) from University of Ottawa, Liette Leduc also earned a certificate in Arts and Science, with a concentration in History and Criminology, from Université de Montréal. She has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1989.

      Jean Thifault joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 1997 as Director, Labour Relations. In this capacity, he oversees a team of ten employees charged with conducting social audits of potential partner companies.

      Prior to his arrival at the Fonds, Mr. Thifault was a union advisor at the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE-QFL). With over 30 years of labour experience, he is known as an excellent mediator who understands that respect for workers is essential for business success. Before joining CUPE, Mr. Thifault served in the Canadian Armed Forces and worked as a fire fighter.

      Jean Wilhelmy joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2005. Prior to his appointment as Senior Vice-President, he was Investment Director for the Aerospace, Transportation Services, Recreational Tourism and Environment sectors. As part of his duties, Mr. Wilhelmy served on the boards of over 25 public and private companies. He is currently a board member of a prominent entertainment company.

      In a career spanning 30 years, Mr. Wilhelmy got his start in the finance industry, working for financial institutions and as a securities broker. He subsequently held various business development and operations management positions in a leading energy corporation.

      He spent almost 25 years in venture and development capital, working for different investment firms. He was also self-employed for a few years, executing management and consulting mandates, mainly for financial institutions.

      Mr. Wilhelmy was a finance lecturer at UQÀM for seven years. In 2005, he began teaching a course on project financing at HEC Montréal. Holder of an MBA from HEC Montréal, Mr. Wilhelmy obtained, in 2009, a graduate certificate in corporate governance from the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés de l’Université Laval, earning the designation of Chartered Corporate Director. He also holds the designation of Chartered Administrator.
