Nord-du-Québec

Socioeconomic profile

Nord-du-Québec stands apart from the other regions in the province by its massive size and abundant natural resources. This regional economy is driven by natural resource exploitation – mineral, forest and water. The tourism industry is also an important part of the Nord-du-Québec economy.

The goods-producing, industrial and construction sectors are booming in this region, while the services industries, including professional, technical and scientific services, as well as the retail and wholesale trades, transportation and warehousing, are all growing.

Lastly, the region is home to three aboriginal groups:  the Inuit, Cree and Jamésiens.
