Rimouski, January 20, 2018 – The SOPER and the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ are proud to announce an increase in the funding of the Rimouski-Neigette Fonds local de solidarité (FLS), one of the investment tools to encourage entrepreneurship on the RCM territory. A total of $1.5 million is now available for business start-up and growth projects. The $500,000 increase was necessary to meet the growing needs of entrepreneurs. In 2016, this FLS provided $447,300 out of the $1,276,663 invested in the 28 projects approved that year.
“The Fonds locaux de solidarité network is a proven local economic model, as confirmed by its use on the territory of the Rimouski-Neigette RCM. We’re proud to be strengthening our partnership with the RCM and the SOPER. In so doing, Rimouski-Neigette entrepreneurs will continue to have access to this fund for their business projects,” said Éric Désaulniers, general manager of the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ.
“For the SOPER, this is an excellent show of confidence by the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ in our organization as well as in our investment committee. There is a huge demand for funding and this extra money will allow us to further develop our economy and create and maintain jobs on our territory,” said SOPER executive director Martin Beaulieu.
About the Fonds Locaux de solidarité FTQ
The Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ (FLS) was created by the Fonds de solidarité FTQ and the Fédération québécoise des municipalités to support the local economy by furthering the development of SMEs and creating and maintaining lasting, quality jobs. Entrepreneurs have access to the FLS through local economic development organizations. The 73 local funds have financed 4,046 projects to date.1
