HAN-LOGEMENT INAUGURATES ACCESSIBLE 8-UNIT BUILDING IN RICHMOND

A partnership between Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Han-Logement

Richmond, September 14, 2021Han-Logement is pleased to announce the inauguration of its most recent building at 80 Craig Street in Richmond. This is the 16th building dedicated to people with a physical or intellectual disability. Centrally located in Richmond, it consists of eight accessible one-bedroom apartments at an affordable rent. Tenants moved in last fall.

The $1.5-million project was made possible by a partnership between Han-Logement and the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, as well as a financial contribution from Desjardins Entreprises. Also instrumental to its realization was the support of the City of Richmond and the extreme generosity of 10 local donors involved in their community.

“On the eve of our 20th anniversary, this project brings to 105 the number of accessible housing units built by Han-Logement. That’s the lives of 105 special needs people and their families changed for the better and that is our goal: to make a difference. We’re changing lives, one housing unit at a time.” — Paul Champagne, Managing Director

“I’m very proud of the participation of our generous donors, who made this project possible, allowing eight families to live in a home adapted to their needs.  Han-Logement’s initiative helps keep citizens who would otherwise have gone to live elsewhere in our community.  We hope to see more housing projects designed and built by Han-Logement here in Richmond.” — Bertrand Ménard, Mayor of Richmond.

“We first teamed up with Han-Logement in 2017 with the goal of building 500 accessible housing units in about 40 cities in Québec. We are proud to drive the development of this type of project with a unique and profitable business model that brings together financial and municipal actors, and donors. By serving the needs of a clientele with very specific needs, we have a real impact on society and this makes us all the more proud.” — Martin Raymond, Vice-President, Investments, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ.

Donors and partners are the components of the winning recipe that Han-Logement intends to repeat to alleviate the pressing need for accessible housing in the regions. This type of project can only take place with strong local mobilization. The project’s major donors are (in alphabetical order):
