$2.5 MILLION FOR MIRABEL BUSINESSES

MIRABEL- In addition to the funding available from the FLI-Mirabel, two local investment funds were recently created in Mirabel, giving local business access to $2.5 million of financing in the form of loans. The funds are the Fonds FLS-Mirabel and Filaction-Mirabel.

As Mayor Jean Bouchard explained, “Mirabel's local investment funds were created to provide new and existing businesses with financial and technical support in order to maintain jobs in the Mirabel area.”

According to the partnership agreement, “The primary role of Mirabel's local investment funds is to provide businesses with capital. The purpose of the financing is generally to ensure the success of an implementation, development or modernization project.”

The source of the capital available from the local investment funds is as follows: FLS-Mirabel, Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ ($750,000), Ville de Mirabel ($150,000) and the Fédération québécoise des municipalities (FQM) ($100,000); FILACTION-Mirabel, Filaction fonds de développement ($850,000), Ville de Mirabel ($150,000); FLI-Mirabel, a loan from the Québec government through the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation ($519,950).

“The result of a partnership between the Fonds de solidarité FTQ and the Fédération québécoise des municipalités, the Fonds locaux de solidarité network is a proven local economic development model. Mirabel entrepreneurs who have bold, ambitious projects now have access to the FLS to finance their start-up or growing SME,” said Éric Désaulniers, general manager of the Fonds locaux de solidarité FTQ.

“The FQM and the Fonds de solidarité have been working together for almost 25 years. It’s a partnership of which we can all be very proud. Our contribution was made possible by the $3.5 million allocated by the Québec government for the deployment of the FLS network in regions unserved until now,” said Mayor Scott Pearce of the Township of Gore, reeve of the Argenteuil RCM and member of the FQM board of directors.

“We are delighted with this agreement with Ville de Mirabel, which will allow us to increase our investments in this region with great economic potential,” said Filaction general manager Milder Villegas.

“We are proud to contribute to the establishment of the FLS Mirabel fund, which will further stimulate entrepreneurship and the creation of sustainable jobs in the region. This investment clearly shows our continued commitment to supporting SMEs at all stages of their journey by providing them with effective financial and other tools that meet their needs,” said Marie Eve Proulx, Minister for Regional Economic Development and Minister Responsible for Chaudière-Appalaches, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine Regions.

Applications for financial assistance will be analyzed by a nine-member investment committee and an observer. Of these, two are from Ville de Mirabel, one is from the FLS and one is from Filaction; the other five, forming the majority and having no relationship with the three parties, are from the finance and business worlds.

Anyone wishing to submit a project in order to obtain financial assistance from the Fonds locaux d’investissement de Mirabel may contact Mirabel économique at 450 475-2110.
