A $12-Million Project in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and New Partners for SKYSPA Group

Boucherville, August 16, 2018 – SKYSPA Group today announced new partners, whose presence will enable the company to implement its development plan and open a new spa in St-Bruno-de-Montarville. In addition to renewed support from Investissement Québec, a partner since the Group’s inception, the company now has the backing of the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Montérégie and new private investors. The Group’s president, Patrick Rake, remains the principal shareholder.

“Our new Group is a major force and excellent news for our innovative projects, which will be beneficial for the tourism industry,” said Patrick Rake, SKYSPA Group’s president, a 15-year industry veteran.

“With the St-Bruno-de-Montarville spa project, SKYSPA Group is showing that innovation is not limited to sectors of the new economy. Thanks to its market knowledge and the extensive experience of Patrick Rake and his team, SKYSPA has come up with an innovative project that will enhance Montérégie’s reputation as a destination for recreational tourism,” added Johanne Pilon, regional vice-president of the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Montérégie.

A spa in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville: an innovative project

The spa will cover nearly 60,000 square metres and will be built in two phases. Scheduled to open in summer 2019, the first phase represents an investment of more than $12 million and will help create nearly 100 jobs. Ultimately, nearly $45 million will be invested and more than 300 jobs will be created in this project, which will include a restaurant and a hotel.

The spa will be a major new attraction for the region due to its proximity to Montréal and will consolidate the Mont Saint-Bruno recreational tourism centre with Ski Mont Saint-Bruno and Parc de la Sépaq.

Forging ahead

The Group is planning more locations for the SKYSPA brand, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Within the next five years, spa lovers in Laval, Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto will find be able to visit a SKYSPA in their city, where they will be able to enjoy an urban relaxation experience coupled with panoramic views from open-air rooftop terraces.
