Contrecoeur’s Cité 3000 Announces Its First Commercial Project: A Canac Hardware Store that Will Create 100 Jobs

Contrecœur, October 6, 2017 – Grilli Samuel Consortium Immobilier and the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ today announced the arrival of the hardware and construction materials chain Canac, which will set up shop in the first commercial building of Cité 3000 in Contrecœur. On hand for the announcement were Yves H. Samuel, President of Grilli Samuel Consortium Immobilier, Guy Poulin, Vice-president, Asset Management, at the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, and Suzanne Dansereau, Mayor of Contrecœur and prefect of the Marguerite D’Youville RCM.

Canac has purchased a 370,000 ft2 lot on which it will begin construction in 2019 of a $6 million warehouse-store that will consist of 40,000 ft2 of retail space and 30,000 ft2 of warehouse space.

In November 2015, the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and contractor Grilli Samuel Consortium Immobilier announced a partnership agreement for the acquisition of 4.3 million square feet of land in the city of Contrecœur. The industrial hub — Technopole Contrecœur — accounts for 40% of the project’s buildings. The land is located along the Saint-Lawrence River, the CN rail line, the Gaz Métro network and Route 132. It consists of 2.3 million square feet of land divided into about 15 lots slated for the construction of value-added warehouses and distribution centres capable of handling large volumes. The commercial hub — Cité 3000 — is located near Autoroute 30 and consists of 2 million square feet of land on which commercial buildings will be erected along with a highway service area.
