MONTRÉAL, June 7, 2021 – Gérer son quartier is pleased to announce the start of greening work at Habitations Le Domaine, a complex consisting of 111 buildings housing 726 apartments in the Mercier-Ouest neighbourhood of the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
The goal of the project is to create and develop a gathering and activity area for the community through the installation of educational gardens and a space fitted out with urban furniture. The project is part of a global development vision focused on improving the quality of life of tenants, transforming the environment, reducing heat islands and promoting social inclusion. To this end, the organization must demineralize an area of more than 290 square metres overlooking the backyard of several buildings.
The greening project will be overseen by a steering committee formed of Domaine tenants and partners of the educational gardens, in keeping with the consultation process initiated by Gérer son quartier when the complex was acquired in 2017.
This project is made possible by the financial contributions of Caisse Desjardins des Travailleuses et Travailleurs unis and the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ.
Gérer son quartier also thanks Soverdi, Pépinière, the City of Montréal, the Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal and ILEAU for their financial contribution and their involvement in the project.
