Fonds de solidarité FTQ will be there for Québec Businesses in the Event of Financial Difficulties due to COVID-19

Montréal, March 13, 2020The Fonds de solidarité FTQ will assist Québec companies if necessary in the event of financial issues associated to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Public health must be everyone's priority," said Gaétan Morin, President and CEO of the Fonds. However, under the current circumstances, it is quite possible that Québec businesses will experience liquidity issues. As was the case during the 2008-2009 financial crisis, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ has the necessary funds to support these companies financially, in order to limit the economic and financial impacts of COVID-19.

“Everyone must make public health a priority,” said Gaétan Morin, the Fonds’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “In the current situation, Québec businesses are very likely to experience liquidity issues. As was the case during the 2008-2009 financial crisis, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ is in a position to extend financing to businesses in order to limit the economic and financial impacts of COVID-19.”

The Fonds stands ready to work with the Québec and Canadian governments, as well as other actors in Québec’s financial network, to support the economy.
