With 7 businesses supported in 2018-2019, Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Chaudière—Appalaches injected more than $7.2 million in the local economy

Thetford Mines, June 17, 2019 – The Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ Chaudière-Appalaches has invested $1.5 million in Thetford Honda, an automobile dealership that sells and services new Honda vehicles and different models of pre-owned vehicles in Thetford Mines and the surrounding area. This investment was one of seven made in 2018-2019, bringing the total to over $7.2 million for the FRS Chaudière-Appalaches.
The Thetford Honda dealership was founded at the end of the 1970s by Michel Cloutier and was acquired by Denis Carrier in 1988. The dealership’s general and sales manager, Steve Poulin, became a shareholder in 2014 with a view to eventually taking over the reins. The financing granted by the FRS Chaudière-Appalaches is therefore part of a succession project in which Mr. Poulin takes over from Mr. Carrier and becomes the sole shareholder of Thetford Honda.

A well-entrenched and healthy FRS network
In fiscal 2018-2019, the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ invested a total of $120,662,030 in 117 Québec businesses. This was an exceptionally strong year in terms of investments and number of files handled since the creation of the Fonds régionaux in 1996.
