Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ Partners with Medifice and Ville de Blainville to Build an Indoor Riding Arena

Blainville, December 20, 2018 – The Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and real estate developer Medifice are partnering on the construction of an indoor riding arena in Blainville.

The construction of the new building that will allow the City to expand the activities of the Village équestre is well underway and scheduled for completion in January 2019. The 20,200-square-foot building will include an indoor riding arena, an observation room and a storage room, along with the usual amenities. Built next to an equestrian park, the elevated structure will consist of a steel column-free arena, complete with translucent ventilation panels to provide lighting suitable for horses, minimal heating to ensure their comfort and quality sanitation facilities.

The Blainville Equestrian Park is located near a cluster of civic services: City Hall, a municipal arena, the Paul-Mercier library, a community centre and outdoor recreation services, as well as infrastructure for equestrian sports, including several stables.

Quotes

“The riding arena will be a central element of the Village équestre, which will enable the Poney Club to operate year round. Thanks to a formula whereby the City signs a lease with the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and its partner Medifice, as permitted under the Cities and Towns Act, Blainville families and horse-riding enthusiasts will very shortly have access to a quality infrastructure, acquired without financial risk. The City thanks its partners for building this arena to meet our recreational needs.”

Richard Perreault, Mayor of Blainville

“We’re proud to be involved in this construction project, which all of Blainville’s residents can use. With our partner Medifice, not only are we building a riding arena, we’ll also be responsible for maintaining the building envelope while the City is a tenant. In so doing, we’re playing a role in Blainville’s strategies to develop and upgrade its real estate infrastructure and in offering quality services to Quebecers. We’re also helping preserve jobs since the City will be in charge of the arena’s maintenance.”

Normand Bélanger, President and CEO of the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ

“The new riding arena is located in the north part of the Blainville Equestrian Park, near Céloron Boulevard. By making it possible to practice equestrian sports indoors in a temperature-controlled environment, the City is offering its residents an added-value service. We’re thrilled to be working with the Fonds immobilier on this project and thus strengthen our presence in the Lower Laurentians. At Medifice, we don’t just build buildings, we build relationships.”

Marcel Landry, President and founder of Medifice Inc.
