The Fonds de solidarité FTQ announces the composition of its Board of Directors following its shareholders’ meeting

Claude Séguin is named Chair of the Board of Directors

Québec City, September 30, 2018 – During its general annual meeting held yesterday in Québec City, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ’s shareholders elected the majority of the directors of the Fonds’ Board. The members of the Board are as follows:

It was announced during the meeting that Claude Séguin, member of the Board of Directors since April 2017, was named Chair. He takes over from Robert Parizeau who did not run for a new mandate after 4 years on the Board.

“I’m very happy to pass the mantle to Claude Séguin. His long experience in the public and private sectors are invaluable to an institution such as the Fonds. I leave the Board knowing that its chairmanship will be in excellent hands,” said Mr. Parizeau.

“Robert Parizeau took over the chairmanship of the Board of Directors at a pivotal moment in the Fonds’ history. He guided the Board and its bodies through the necessary governance reforms without losing sight of the organization’s DNA. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to express our profound appreciation for his service to the Fonds’ 667,000 shareholders and 2,800 partner companies,” said in turn Mr. Séguin.

Claude Séguin

Corporate Director

Between October 2016 and March 2018, Claude Séguin served as Special Advisor to the Founder and Executive Chairman of CGI Group. Mr. Séguin joined CGI in 2003 as Senior Vice-President, Corporate Development and Strategic Investments, where he was responsible for the mergers and acquisitions team. Before joining CGI, Mr. Séguin was President of CDP Capital-Private Equity at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. From 1992 to 2000, he served as Executive Vice-President (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer of Teleglobe.

From 1987 to 1992, Mr. Séguin was Deputy Minister of Finance for the Government of Québec. For the four years before that he was Assistant Deputy Minister in charge of fiscal policy and government corporations. He was also previously employed by the Conseil du trésor du Québec.

Claude Séguin holds a bachelor’s degree from HEC Montréal and a PhD in public administration from Syracuse University in New York.

In addition to chairing the board of the Centraide of Greater Montréal Foundation, Mr. Séguin also sits on the boards of HEC Montréal, the Fondation 24h Tremblant and EXFO Inc. He is the co-author of the reports “Une métropole à la hauteur de nos aspirations” and “Le maintien et le développement des sièges sociaux au Québec.”
