Fonds de solidarité FTQ Recognized Once Again As A Strategic Economic Partner by the Québec Government

$500 Million to maintain Québec head offices

Montréal, February 21, 2017 – In its economic plan announced today, the Québec government once again recognized the important role of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in our economy, noting, in particular, the Fonds’ strategic plan, which calls for $1.4 billion in additional investments by 2020.

“Day after day, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ supports Québec SMEs looking to become the champions of tomorrow’s economy. Together with the government, the Fonds’ strategic plan has already increased the amount the organization will invest to back key sectors and flagship companies. In particular, the Fonds has allocated $500 million to purchase stocks of publicly traded Québec companies,” said Gaétan Morin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ.

“However, the best way to keep Québec head offices here at home is still through their growth and consolidation,” added Mr. Morin.

As a strategic partner of the government for Québec’s economic development, Gaétan Morin welcomed the creation of the task force Groupe d’initiative financière, in which the Fonds will be participating: “We must keep on looking for ways to encourage our companies to grow and develop their headquarters here in the province. But most of all, we must continue fostering entrepreneurship and increase the number of companies with headquarters in Québec.”
