National Moving Day: 2,500 free boxes for last-minute packing

Since 1984, 70,232 Fonds de solidarité FTQ shareholders have redeemed $534.8 million in shares to buy their first home

Montréal, June 23, 2016 – National Moving Day is almost here. In a few days, tens of thousands of Quebecers will be moving.  Whether they use professional movers or call on friends to help, and whether the reason for the move is personal or work related, most would agree that they’re running out of time …and boxes!

To lend a hand, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ will be offering 2,500 free moving boxes on June 23, 2016, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Lionel-Groulx metro station in Montréal.  This offer is open to everyone and not just Fonds shareholders.

“The last few days before a move can be chaotic. With July 1 just around the corner, the free moving boxes will be a big help,” said Denis Leclerc, the Fonds’ Executive Vice-President of Shareholder Services.  “We’re also using this event to remind the public that retirement savings can be used to buy a first home. Since 1984, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ has helped 70,232 shareholders become home owners by letting them redeem a total of $534.8 million in Fonds shares under the Home Buyers’ Plan.”
