Sylvie Des Roches Appointed Vice-President of Internal Audit

Montréal, September 9, 2014 – Robert Parizeau, Chairman of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, and Gaétan Morin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fonds, are pleased to announce the appointment of Sylvie Des Roches as Vice-President, Internal Audit.

“Ms. Des Roches’ primary function will be to support the institution in its duty to ensure it has adequate and effective operating processes. To this end, she will work with our Integrated Risk Management Committee and groups that oversee financial and regulatory compliance. As is the practice for institutions such as the Fonds, she will report to the Audit Committee while reporting administratively to the CEO,” said Mr. Parizeau.

“Although the Fonds de solidarité is not bound by any regulation to create such a position, it is important for the Fonds to continue adopting best governance practices. We are pleased to be able to count on someone like Sylvie Des Roches, who has extensive experience in the field,” added Mr. Morin.

Sylvie Des Roches, CPA, CA, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Université Laval. She has extensive experience in corporate governance, particularly in internal audit, compliance and financial controls involving large, highly regulated financial institutions. From 1984 to 1999, she served as auditor at various corporations (Mallette Maheu, Canada-Vie and Sun Life) before joining The Standard Life Assurance Company, where she held various roles: Director (financial controls), Senior Director (compliance), Vice-President (compliance), and more recently, from 2006 to 2013, Vice-President (internal audit).
