The Bassins du Havre: a vision is taking form

Montreal, February 16, 2012 - Développement des Bassins Inc., a partnership between Prével Group, Rachel Julien, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Claridge, officially launched today Pier 2, the second phase of the Bassins du Havre, a remarkable real estate project located along the Lachine canal, in Griffintown. This new phase will be erected just east of Pier 1, currently under construction.

“Our clients will be happy to see that the construction of the first phase is now at its cruising pace. An all new neighbourhood, which will become an exceptional living environment offering quietness and proximity to downtown, is literally taking form in front of our eyes,” mentioned Jacques Vincent, copresident of Prével Group.

The construction of Pier1 started last December, and the site is already buzzing with activity. “Tens of workers work every day on the site to build what will become, once completed, a new neighbourhood of more than 1,800 housing units by the Lachine canal. At the end of the twelve phases planned in the project, 4,600 jobs will have been created and maintained,” declared Mr. Normand Bélanger, president and CEO of the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ. Let’s remember that the delivery of the Pier 1 units is scheduled for Fall 2013.

Pier 2, for its part, was designed in response to the comments received since the launch of the first phase. It will offer a maximum of units with two or three bedrooms while keeping the concept of town houses, an undeniable asset for families that want to settle down. Pier 2, scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2014, will have 107 units spread over eight floors with surface areas up to 2,680 square feet.

The sales office is also getting a makeover for the occasion. The model units have been completely redesigned to offer a wider choice of materials for interior finishing. “We listened to our customers, and they are now able to organize their future home to meet their aspirations in this unique place that will be the Bassins du Havre neighbourhood” added Mr. Denis Robitaille, president of Rachel Julien.

“We are proud to partner with Prével and Rachel Julien, two experienced promoters known for the quality of their projects. They have demonstrated a vanguard spirit and an innovative vision for the revitalisation of this neighbourhood. Our investment reflects our confidence and support in our partners” declared Mr. Gideon Pollack, Vice President, Business Development, at Claridge.

“The Bassins du Havre project puts forward an urban lifestyle, respectful of the environment and heritage. With the beginning of the construction and the launch of Pier 2, this vanguard vision takes a concrete form for the benefit of the Sud-Ouest Borough and the City of Montreal,” concluded Mr. Benoît Dorais, mayor of the Sud-Ouest borough.
