Geneviève Guertin Appointed Vice-President, Investments, Life Sciences, at Fonds de solidarité FTQ

The Fonds has invested $1.6 billion since 1989 to support Québec’s life sciences industry

Montréal, March 2, 2021 - Janie Béïque, Executive Vice-President, Investments, at the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, and Alain Denis, Senior Vice-President, Investments, are pleased to announce the appointment of Geneviève Guertin as Vice-President, Investments, Life Sciences. Ms. Guertin takes over from Didier Leconte, who was appointed Vice-President, Investments, Technologies and Funds Management.

“For the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, investing for a better society means backing the development of new medications that improve patient quality of life. That’s why we’ve invested $1.6 billion since 1989 to support Québec’s life sciences sector. We’re pleased to count on Geneviève’s expertise and experience to continue backing this key sector of our economy,” said Mr. Denis.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics and finance options, and a master’s degree in management science, finance option, from École des HEC, Geneviève joined the Fonds in 2012 as Senior Investment Advisor and Director, Investments, in the Life Sciences team. For the past two years, she has been coordinator within the same team.

“This pandemic reminds us of the importance of supporting the work of Québec scientists. I am therefore excited to take on this new challenge. Thanks to a team of dedicated professionals, the Fonds intends to remain an active financial partner of the Québec life sciences sector,” said Geneviève Guertin.

Today, the Fonds’ dedicated life sciences team has eight members, including a Scientific Investment Director. The team invests directly in life sciences companies as well as in life sciences investment funds.
