Jean Wilhelmy joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in July 2005 and has been Senior Vice-President, Aerospace, Infrastructures, Services and Transportation since September 2009.
Holding a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from HEC Montréal, Jean Wilhelmy has over 35 years of experience, having started his career in 1976 in the finance industry.
For close to 30 years, he has worked in the venture and development capital industry with various firms, including BDC, Investissement Desjardins, Énergie Capital, Hydro-Québec Capitech and SGF. As part of his duties in the investment industry, he served on the Boards of Directors of over 30 businesses. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of Finance Montréal, Québec's financial cluster, and Montréal International. In addition, he is a member of the Monitoring Committee of Mecadev and the Investment Committee of three French funds specialized in aerospace, Aerofund I, II and III. He has also been a director of Avior Integrated Products and Abipa since 2015 and of Moulins de Soulanges since 2016. Furthermore, he has served on the Advisory Committee of La Milanaise since 2014 and of Concertium since 2016.
In previous years, he acted as Chair of the Restructuring and Recovery Committee of Mécachrome International, a company listed on the TSX, and as Chair of the Advisory Committee of Signalisation Octa, a Québec-based SME.
Mr. Wilhelmy was also self-employed for a few years, executing various interim management and consulting engagements for financial institutions and other types of businesses. He was also a finance lecturer at UQAM for seven years. Since 2005, he has been a professor at HEC Montréal, where he teaches a course on project financing. He has also been an Associate Professor at Executive Education HEC Montréal since 2016.
