Vice-President, Marketable Securities Portfolio Management

Pierre Bélanger joined the Solidarity Fund QFL in June 2008. As Vice-President, Marketable Securities Portfolio Management, he is responsible for the development, short-term strategy and tactical management of the marketable securities portfolio.
Mr. Bélanger has nearly 20 years’ experience on the financial markets. Before joining the Fund, he worked in a variety of capacities for National Bank of Canada (2005 to 2007). As Vice-President, Global Asset Allocation and Special Products, of the bank’s subsidiary, Natcan
Investment Management (2005-2007), he oversaw global asset allocation and was in charge of creating new investment products. He then worked as an analyst (structured products for private investments) at National Bank Financial (2007-2008).
Earlier in his career, he held various positions at National Bank of Canada; first, in the marketing department (1987-1989), then at National Bank Leasing as Director, Strategic Planning (1989-1990). He later (1990-1995) worked in the Bank’s treasury department, within the financial engineering group and in risk management.
In 1995, he joined Crédit Lyonnais Canada as Head Trader, Shortterm Derivatives. Soon after, he took up the position of Trader, Capital Markets, at BLC Securities (1996-2001), where he structured financing for provincial and corporate issuers, as well as helped Laurentian Bank of Canada with financing and matching operations. From 2001 to 2005,
as Senior Manager, Bond Portfolio, at Hydro-Québec’s pension plan division, he was responsible for money market and fixed-income portfolios.
Over the years, Mr. Bélanger has acquired solid expertise in the sphere of financing: management and trading of interest rate derivatives, financing, structured notes, asset-liability matching, risk management, fixed-income portfolio management, and global asset allocation.
Mr. Bélanger holds an M.A. in Economics and a B.B.A. from HEC Montréal.
