Daniel Laporte


Senior Vice-President - Turnaround and Special Mandates



A 27-year veteran of the venture capital industry, Daniel Laporte joined the Solidarity Fund QFL in 1994 and has been Senior Vice-President, Turnaround and Special Mandates, since April 2004. Before assuming this position, he was Senior Vice-President, Technology Investments, for five years.

Mr. Laporte began his career in the venture capital division of the Business Development Bank of Canada where from 1977 to 1985 he successively held the positions of Analyst, Regional Director (Québec) and Senior Director at head office. He then joined Desjardins-Capital de risque as Project Manager for two years before moving to Royal Bank Capital Corporation as Vice-President for five years. Over the years, Mr. Laporte has served on the boards of many companies.

Daniel Laporte holds an engineering degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal and an MBA from Université de Sherbrooke. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

A founding director of Réseau Capital, he served as its vice-president from 1988 to 1993. Mr. Laporte was also a member of the board of the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA) from 2001 to 2003.
