    • Alain Denis

      Alain Denis joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2009 as Investment Director of the Information Technologies and Telecommunications sector. An entrepreneur and manager with over 20 years of experience in business and investment, Mr. Denis has held various management positions in leading companies, playing a significant role in their development. Over his career, Alain Denis was, among other things, involved in the launch of a national wireless telecom firm and helped secure financing for and further the development of various companies funded through venture capital in Europe and Asia. More recently, he participated in developing the business of two companies he co-founded, one in health technologies and the other in asset-based lending. A graduate of Université Laval and York University, Mr. Denis holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Finance concentration. Very involved in the business community, he is a board member of several companies and organizations in Montréal.
    • Stéphan Marois

      Portfolio Manager

      Stéphan Marois joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2007 where he is now Portfolio Manager. While at the Fonds, he has worked in the information technologies, aerospace, transportation, recreational tourism and financial services sectors. Mr. Marois has gained extensive experience in investments while working for leading Québec corporations such as Bombardier, CAE and Hydro-Québec. His achievements include participating in numerous financing projects and arrangements in Canada and abroad. Over the years, Mr. Marois has also served on the boards of various organizations. Holder of a Bachelor of Commerce with a Finance option from the University of Ottawa and an MBA with a concentration in International Business from McGill University, Mr. Marois is a member of the Ordre des CPA du Québec. He has also completed courses on securities, investment fund management and governance issues.
    • Serge Michaud

      Portfolio Manager

      Serge Michaud joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2002 as Senior Investment Advisor. He subsequently assumed the position of Portfolio Manager for the Information Technologies and Telecommunications sector, where he is responsible for evaluating and managing companies in the portfolio as well as evaluating potential investments. Before his arrival at the Fonds, he served as Senior Director at the Treasury of Laurentian Bank of Canada. During his time with the bank, he started a letter of credit department, helped launch Laurentian Bank Securities and conducted due diligence reviews of potential acquisitions. Mr. Michaud also held the position of Vice-President, Finance, in various technology firms. Holder of an accounting degree from UQÀM, Serge Michaud has rich operational experience in technology firms and large financial institutions. Over the years, he has served on the boards of various Canadian and American tech firms as a director or an observer.
    • Colette Roy

      Portfolio Manager

      Colette Roy joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 1999. She first worked at the Fonds régional de solidarité FTQ de Montréal before being appointed Senior Investment Advisor for the Industrial Technologies sector, and then Portfolio Manager for the Information Technologies and Telecommunications sector. Ms. Roy has 20 years of experience in SME financing, acquired at leading Québec financial institutions and within the Fonds de solidarité FTQ network. Over the years, she has served on several boards of both public and private technology firms and is currently a board member of a leading-edge company. Holder of an MBA with a Finance concentration from HEC Montréal and a bachelor's degree in urban planning from Université du Québec à Montréal, Colette Roy brings a wealth of human resources and other experience to the Fonds.
    • Charles Sylvestre

      Vice-President, Investments - Information Technology, Telecommunications and Environment

      Charles Sylvestre has worked in the business transfer and venture capital fields for over a decade. In 2009 he co-founded Adix Conseil, a firm specializing in buying and selling businesses in the Montréal region and the Eastern Townships. Before that, Mr. Sylvestre spent four years as a manager and legal counsel at Novacap, where he was directly involved in buying, selling and taking equity stakes in IT and other firms. While at Novacap, he was also responsible for the due diligence and closing of several private equity deals that often entailed bank financing. Between 1997 and 2003, Charles Sylvestre was, in turn, an analyst at Argo Global Capital (GSM Capital) and Microcell Telecom (Fido). Mr. Sylvestre began his career as a lawyer with a Montréal legal firm in 1994, the year he became a member of the Barreau du Québec. He holds a Bachelor in Social Science (economics) from Université d'Ottawa, a law degree from Université de Montréal and a Diploma in Management (Treasury - Finance) from McGill University. He has been a member on the Board of directors of Bluestreak Technology, Inc. since June 2013.

      François Brulotte joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2003 as Valuation Advisor. In a finance career spanning 15 years, he has worked for leading financial institutions, financing companies and financial advisory firms. Mr. Brulotte has sound expertise in evaluating financial instruments such as stocks, debentures, preferred shares and hybrid instruments, having conducted valuations in such varied contexts as mergers & acquisitions, buyouts and restructurings. François Brulotte holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Finance concentration and an MBA from École des sciences de la gestion de l'UQÀM. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
    • Denis Lapalme

      Development Agent

      Denis Lapalme joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 1998 as Development Agent in the Labour Relations, Partner Companies office. During his time at the Fonds, he has acquired experience in many sectors. Prior to his arrival at the Fonds, Mr. Lapalme worked in such areas as air transport, culture, municipalities, hospitals and school boards. A committed labour activist, he was the spokesperson for the Ligue des droits et libertés for the electronic surveillance division, Chairperson of CAW District 400, National Vice-Chairperson of CAW local 2213 (Air Canada), President of the CAW Québec Council, and member of the CAW-TCA Canada National Council. Denis Lapalme holds a degree in life sciences, with concentrations in History, Political Science and Economics, from Université du Québec à Montréal. He is also a certified QFL trainer.
    • Sylvain Lemarbre

      Sylvain Lemarbre joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2001 as Senior Marketing Advisor in the Market Analysis and Development office. His duties include formulating recommendations for investment projects, advising the investment team and prospecting, tracking and furthering the growth of companies in the portfolio. Mr. Lemarbre has almost two decades of experience in financial services. Over the years he has held such positions as Product Manager, responsible for strategy, development and deployment of electronic solutions for the business market. He was involved in the Canadian Payments Association for over five years. Known for his leadership, Mr. Lemarbre was in charge of a 20-member team. Sylvain Lemarbre holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance as well as a Master of Science in International Management from HEC Montréal. During his career, he has worked for prestigious financial institutions and companies.
    • Yvan Nantel

      Yvan Nantel joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2004 as Legal Advisor. In his current role, he deals with the many legal facets of the Fonds' investment operations. From defining the legal structure of transactions to their negotiation and closing, Me Nantel is involved at each step of the investment process. He also occasionally delivers legal training to Fonds employees. Prior to joining the Fonds, Me Nantel worked for 18 months for Société générale de financement du Québec. Before that, he worked for an established Montréal law firm where he honed his expertise in commercial transactions and private financing. Yvan Nantel earned a law degree and a diploma in commercial law from Université de Montréal. He has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1983.
    • Guy Perreault

      Taxation Expert

      Guy Perreault joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2001. He left the organization in 2006 and returned in October 2010. Mr. Perreault has extensive experience in taxation matters pertaining to investments, reorganization of Canadian companies, investments funds, and Canadian and foreign financial products. Past positions include serving as Senior Taxation Director, specializing in financial institutions, for a prominent accounting firm, and Taxation Director for a major Québec real estate company. Mr. Perreault holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters degree in taxation from Université Sherbrooke. He obtained his C.A. designation in 1988.
    • Martin Rivest

      Martin Rivest joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2006 as Senior Marketing Advisor in the Market Analysis and Development office. His duties include formulating recommendations for investment projects, advising the investment team and prospecting, tracking and furthering the growth of companies in the portfolio. During his 20-year career, Mr. Rivest has developed solid expertise in product development and management in the computer security, IP networks and e-commerce fields. He is also adept at managing multidisciplinary teams. An engineer, Martin Rivest earned an MBA from Université de Sherbrooke and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Université Laval. Prior to joining the Fonds, he worked for several major telecom companies.
    • Sylvain Tellier

      Taxation Expert

      Sylvain Tellier joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2007 as Tax Specialist in the Taxation office. Prior to his recruitment by the organization, he worked for various prominent accounting firms. Mr. Tellier has sound expertise in taxation, more specifically, corporate restructuring, estate planning, and scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) tax credit financing. He also has excellent knowledge of securities. Holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting, from UQÀM as well as a master's degree in taxation from Université de Sherbrooke, Sylvain Tellier is also a Chartered Accountant (CA). He has almost 20 years of experience in taxation.
