Québec’s furniture industry is currently struggling due in large part to the influx of Chinese imports. Fortunately, hefty investments in automation, mass customization and the development of high-quality, original products should allow many furniture manufacturers to recover over the next few years

In order to ensure its long-term growth and to maintain its advantageous market position, the furniture and fixtures industry will have to address the following challenges:

  • International competition (increase in Asian imports);
  • Slowdown in residential construction and renovations.
